Job Summary:

Purchase, track products and equipment in accordance with company standards and procedures to ensure availability and standardization. Maintain current job files, catalogs, literature and pricing. Monitor, purchase, and expedite all orders while following company p-card standards and procedures. Maintain supplier relations by negotiating terms, pricing, and delivery based on specific budgets and schedule requirements. Provide assistance to other employees by mentoring, training and monitoring job performance through the use of company policies and procedures.

Requirements

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for processing and standardizing procurement transactions
  • Requests quotes, and negotiates pricing, payment terms, and delivery terms for non-agreement suppliers
  • Negotiates and reviews all quotes for projects assigned
  • Ability to multi-task and handle priorities as business necessity permits. Must be able to maintain professionalism during frequent interruptions
  • Solicit cost reduction ideas from suppliers and implement these cost savings ideas
  • Anticipates procurement related concerns, and proactively addresses issues
  • Verify required information: cost accounting, part numbers, description, and pricing
  • Expedite orders, and serve as liaison between suppliers and end users
  • Ensures timely delivery of materials and equipment to support project execution and customer satisfaction
  • Research, analyze, and correct all purchase order related discrepancies
  • Report cost savings, and other related metrics to management
  • Resolves supply chain logistical and accounting problems with suppliers and company's internal customers
  • Translates demand requirements into procurement requests and orders to ensure the timely availability of materials
  • Analyzes material availability and arranges purchasing and/or or in-house production of parts to ensure timely availability of materials
  • Develops, maintains and distributes procurement related metrics reports to management
  • Attend department meetings to reciprocate supplier related issues
  • Work closely with the production floor to ensure timely scheduling of current jobs
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • At least 5+ years' experience in operations management/inventory material control/logistics
  • 5+ years' experience as a buyer/planner or purchasing agent

Knowledge:

  • Extensive knowledge of planning for engineering processes and procedures
  • Extensive knowledge of purchase order and bill of material standards
  • Understanding of computer operations, Microsoft Office, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and APICS
  • Complete knowledge of Inventory Quality Control

Training Requirements:
