Position Description

This position is responsible for all accounts receivable functions.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Prepares, posts, verifies and records customer payments and transactions related to accounts receivable.
  • Submits invoices to customers according to customer payment requirements.
  • Tracks accounts receivable balances, identifies delinquent accounts, and works directly with the contracts department to collect past due amounts.
  • Actively manage cash collecting including customer calls, emails, meetings and other communication channels (including weekly meeting notes and monthly customer statements).
  • Creates accounts receivable reports as requested.
  • Researches customer discrepancies including short payments, excess payments, and past-due amounts. Researches misapplication of funds and customer debit memos.
  • Reconciles accounts receivable on a monthly basis.
  • Maintains scanned receivable documents in shared files in order to easily retrieve documents and reduce paper waste.
  • Works on special projects as required.
  • Supports finance during audits.
  • Assist with customer credit management as needed.
  • Accepts cross-training for different job responsibilities of various key personnel within the accounting department.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks, etc.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related software as well as other accounting software programs (emphasis in Excel proficiency).
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to analyze and reconcile complex accounts.
  • Ability to follow through until tasks are complete.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret data in an ERP environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 or more years of general accounting experience (with an emphasis in Accounts Receivable preferred).
  • ERP experience required, IFS preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new and different computer programs and software to enable efficient data gathering and analysis required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US, visa sponsorship not available.

This position is located 100% onsite at our Black Mountain NC facility. Relocation assistance is not available.
