Overview

This position is responsible for providing control system, information system, and electric power system design, as well as, component specifications and technical direction to implement and maintain automated control and electric power systems. This position requires considerable independent judgment in the implementation and selection of process controls and related components.


Responsibilities

Position may be filled at the Control Specialist level or Sr Control Specialist level based on the successful candidate's background and experience. Additional responsibilities may be included for the higher level of the Sr Control Specialist role.

  • Implements conceptual plans for new information system, control system, and electric power systems which utilize state of the art equipment and techniques to enhance Company operation.
  • Assists department engineers in the research, development, design, specification, and selection requirements associated with electric operations.
  • Designs and selects systems and related componentry with consideration for and assurance that operating and maintenance flexibility, Company safety practices and ergonomic principles are incorporated.
  • Provides technical direction associated with drafting, programming, technical libraries, and installation and maintenance of system software and hardware.
  • Plans and controls all activities so as to provide an accident-free workplace.
  • Conducts work activities with regard to environmental rules and regulations.
  • Regularly reviews all tasks to assure optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness. Recommends changes for improvement.
  • Assists with the development of departmental and divisional goals, objectives, budgets, programs, and procedures.

EDUCATIONAL_EXPERIENCE -

Control Specialist

  • Bachelor's Degree in technology
  • 3+ years experience or an equivalent combination of education and
  • 4+ years experience on a year-for-year basis is

Sr Control Specialist

  • Bachelor's Degree in technology
  • 5+ years experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year-for-year basis is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrates qualities of initiative, ability to work independently, and proven analytical capabilities.
  • A good knowledge of power plant processes is recommended.
