About the Job
About the Job: This position provides high-level support and management for the responsibilities listed below, and is the main liaison between affiliated hospitals providing Medical Student Education in Internal Medicine and the Medical School. The position works as part of the Department of Medicine Education team. This position is required to be on campus a minimum of 2 days per week, with a remote work option for 3 days. Major Responsibilities: Manage Required Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) courses and Acting Internship in Internal Medicine (90%) Serves as the main clerkship coordinator for the University's Internal Medicine Required Clerkships and the Acting Internship in Internal Medicine, located across multiple hospital sites. Serves as site coordinator at the University of Minnesota Medical Center for these courses, in partnership with the M Health FV education coordinator. Assists course directors on all administrative matters relating to courses. Schedules didactic sessions, manages evaluations, manages course websites & resources, coordinates preceptors and faculty assignments. Arranges course schedules and logistics, manages communications, prepares course materials, leads and participates in clerkship orientation sessions at the start of each rotation period. Partners with course directors to implement ongoing improvements and changes to courses; compiles, analyzes, and presents data to inform director decisions. Collaborates to provide innovations to course content, and to assess effectiveness of course content. Oversees grading system for Internal Medicine student education. Administers & proctors exams and submits grades into the University's grading systems. Manages evaluation systems including MEDtrics, CSA, EPA, and RCE dashboards; pulls audit reports for course and site directors. Manages learning management systems including Canvas and Collaborative Class Schedule (CCS) Manages incomplete grades process, tracking student progress and ensuring completion. Manages annual Chair's Letter process for approximately 70 students seeking residency positions in Internal Medicine and Internal Medicine Pediatrics. Coordinates monthly UME leadership and clerkship director meetings, agendas, and meeting minutes Actively participates in and contributes to in Medical School meetings relevant to UME coordinators.
Education Administration (10%) Processes financial transactions for the Department of Medicine Education team, including P.O.s, check requests and invoicing, PCard purchases & reconciliation, and expense reimbursements. Partners with the Associate Ed Manager in managing UME adjunct & community instructor appointments for faculty & preceptors. Collaborates and provides cross-coverage with colleagues in administration of education programs. Other projects as assigned. The starting rate for this position ranges from $60,000 to $75,000, based on education and experience.
Qualifications
All required qualifications must be included in the application materials Required Qualifications: BA/BS or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), and Google Applications Ability to take initiative on multiple tasks, work independently, and take direction Interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate in an effective, professional manner (both written and verbal) Ability to anticipate and meet multiple deadlines Ability to work occasional non-standard work hours to coordinate programmatic activities Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) Training in and knowledge of University of Minnesota systems, policies and procedures including but not limited to: Canvas, Enterprise Financial System (EFS), PeopleSoft Experience working with physicians in an academic or health care setting
