ABOUT THE POSITION

The VP, Applications Support will be responsible for overseeing the implementation and maintenance of enterprise-wide applications and systems that support our business operations. A key responsibility for this role will be to ensure the continued operability, availability, health, and maintenance of the credit union financial processing systems, including core banking and core supporting systems, collectively referred to as the 'core'. Additionally, this position will oversee the areas of Digital Platforms (SalesForce, SharePoint) and Database Administration (Oracle, MS-SQL). The VP of Enterprise Applications will lead the activities of three teams and their respective professionals, collaborate with stakeholders, and leverage technology expertise to drive innovation, enhance efficiency, and optimize business processes.

NORMAL DAY-TO-DAY WORK

  1. Develop and execute a strategic vision for enterprise applications aligned with the organization's goals, supporting business growth, efficiency, and digital transformation initiatives.
  2. Lead and manage a team of professionals responsible for the implementation, customization, and support of enterprise applications. Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the successful delivery of enterprise application projects and ongoing maintenance.
  3. Oversee the management and optimization of the organization's application portfolio. Assess the relevance and effectiveness of existing applications, identify opportunities for consolidation or retirement, and recommend new applications to meet evolving business needs.
  4. Manage relationships with enterprise application vendors, negotiate contracts, and oversee service level agreements (SLAs). Monitor vendor performance, evaluate new technologies and solutions, and drive innovation and cost optimization.
  5. Collaborate with business stakeholders and Technology teams to define application requirements and ensure the development or customization of enterprise applications aligns with business needs. Oversee the application lifecycle, ensuring adherence to quality standards, best practices, and project timelines.
  6. Develop and implement strategies for seamless integration of enterprise applications, ensuring data integrity, process efficiency, and interoperability across systems. Collaborate with IT teams and business stakeholders to define integration requirements and oversee the implementation of integration solutions.
  7. Establish processes and resources for application support and maintenance, including incident resolution, problem management, and enhancement requests. Ensure effective communication, timely response, and resolution of application-related issues.
  8. Establish governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure adherence to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards in application development, customization, and usage.
  9. Foster strong partnerships with business units and stakeholders, understanding their needs, priorities, and challenges. Collaborate to identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and leveraging enterprise applications to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  10. Lead change management efforts related to enterprise applications, ensuring smooth transitions, user adoption, and training initiatives. Facilitate communication, provide guidance, and address user concerns during application changes or upgrades.
  11. Develop and manage the enterprise applications budget, ensuring cost-effective utilization of resources and alignment with organizational priorities. Monitor expenses, forecast future needs, and optimize resource allocation.
  12. Establish monitoring and performance measurement mechanisms to track the performance, availability, and reliability of enterprise applications. Analyze metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement optimization strategies to enhance application performance and user experience.
  13. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including executive leadership, IT teams, business units, and external partners, to understand business needs and ensure enterprise applications align with strategic objectives.
  14. Stay informed about emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in enterprise applications. Continuously evaluate and enhance application solutions, architecture, and processes to address evolving business needs and maintain a high level of user satisfaction.
  15. Display integrity, self-awareness, courage, and respect for staff while ensuring learning agility and flexibility communicating and delegating effectively. Work effectively, collaboratively, and creatively in a team-oriented environment both internally and externally.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Here are a few skills you MUST have to be qualified for this position.

  1. Minimum 10 - 12 years of professional experience with 4 - 6 in a leadership role overseeing enterprise application functions including database and SharePoint administration.
  2. Financial institution experience with knowledge or expertise around core banking and ancillary applications or systems.
  3. Strong understanding of enterprise application technologies, trends, and best practices.
  4. Comprehensive knowledge of application development methodologies, frameworks, and tools.
  5. Experience in managing and optimizing application portfolios in a complex organizational environment.
  6. Strong understanding of application integration principles and technologies.
  7. Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  8. Solid knowledge of governance frameworks and regulatory compliance related to enterprise applications.
  9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex business requirements and recommend effective application solutions.
  10. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  11. Continuous improvement mindset, with a focus on driving efficiency, innovation, and operational excellence in enterprise applications.
  12. Strong vendor management and contract negotiation skills.
  13. Experience in change management, user adoption, and training initiatives related to enterprise applications.
  14. Proven track record of successfully leading enterprise application projects and teams.
  15. Familiarity with emerging technologies such as cloud-based applications, AI, and automation in enterprise application environments.
  16. Strong understanding of data governance and data management principles related to enterprise applications.
  17. Ability to navigate complex organizational structures and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align enterprise applications with business objectives.
  18. Ability to function in a Consumer business office environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: PC, copier, telephone, etc.
  19. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. (file boxes, computer printer).
  20. Travel required on occasion.
