Job Summary

The Sr. Quality Inspector will be responsible for incoming material inspection. Tracking supplier quality performance, supplier RMA's, and SCAR's. This position works directly with suppliers and the quality engineers to determine root and monitors corrective action.Purchased products falling under this role include raw materials, components, and assemblies, both incoming inspection and material received from outside processing steps.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform complex inspection activities, to assess conformance of products to the design as defined by the engineering drawings and/or models
  • Inspect products, components, subassemblies, and/or systems to ensure conformance to requirements
  • Add organizational value by implementing innovative solutions and best practices involved in all processes of the product realization value stream
  • Support Quality Engineers with identifying non-conforming conditions that present existing or impending defective conditions at the system or subsystem level of assembly
  • Oversee the preparation of inspection plans and checklists for inspections
  • Aid with data collection and root cause analysis investigations
  • Generate discrepancy notices and initiate Material Review Board actions
  • Perform material movement transactions after completing inspection process
  • Specialize in receiving inspection, in-process inspection, process verification/auditing, final inspection, etc
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
Our Ideal Candidate Will Posses
  • Experience implementing auditing AS9100 Quality Management Systems standards
  • Experience with mechanical inspection, optical components or electronic material
  • Trade School/Associates in mechanical assembly, repairs
  • Experience in reading drawings per ASME 14.5
  • CMM Programing
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED with 5 years' electrical/mechanical inspection experience
  • In-depth understanding of relevant manufacturing standards (such as J-Std-001/IPC-A-610) or common mechanical techniques (such as geometric dimensioning and tolerance practices)
  • Ability to use various measurement devices (calipers, pin gauges, go/no-go gauges, etc) to verify mechanical part compliance
  • Experience reading mechanical drawings and able to verify parts dimensions against drawing requirements
  • Experience using a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), Optical comparator or other complex inspection systems is desired

The expected pay scale for this position is $27.50/hr. - $37/hr. Should the level, location, or scope of the position change during the hiring process, the pay scale may be modified accordingly. When extending an offer of employment, DRS Daylight Solutions considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position; any Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, the candidate's relevant work experience, education/training, certifications, and key skills; internal equity; and market and business considerations.
