Position :Screed Operator 2 - North Job Classification : Equipment Operator 3 POSITION SUMMARY The Screed Operator operates the controls on the free-floating screed which is attached to the paver vehicle to control the quantity and consistency of asphalt that is deposited; estimating overall quantity for the project as well as the quantity needed to achieve the correct grade in the finished surface. JOB DESCRIPTION The Diamond B Screed Operator operates the controls on the free-floating screed which is attached to the paver vehicle to control the quantity and consistency of asphalt that is deposited; estimating overall quantity for the project as well as the quantity needed to achieve the correct grade in the finished surface. The Screed Operator works as part of a crew and reports to the Superintendent. The Screed Operator will have a good working knowledge of paving processes as well as equipment attachments. The Operator will also have the knowledge of different types and properties of mixes. Pre-operational Inspection and Daily Service of Equipment is an important task of the position. Planning work procedures is expected to help ensure that work is done according to job specifications. The Diamond B Screed Operator will demonstrate the ability to adjust to factors affecting safe operation, and communicate with other site personnel, such as paver operator. Complying with equipment safety requirements, following procedures for equipment set up, monitoring drainage, slope and boundaries, finishing all seams and joints are tasks of the Screed Operator Position.
