The Opportunity

Ulteig is seeking a Senior CADD Specialist who will support the Substation and T&D departments in design and project delivery. The position will assist in operational standards, and strategy, and ensure process adherence for projects utilizing AutoCAD and MicroStation. This individual will assist with project workflows, digital design methods, and technologies. This individual is also responsible for the creation of user training, internal and external design standards adherence, and implementation.

What You'll Do

SOFTWARE



  • Coordinate the use of AutoCAD and MicroStation software, including new version releases and customization of product deployments.
  • Create, implement, and manage internal AutoCAD standards (e.g., title blocks, layers/levels, blocks/cells, line types).
  • Implement and manage adherence to external client AutoCAD and MicroStation standards.
  • Coordinate the implementation of supporting software for project delivery.
  • Evaluate new project delivery-related software and technologies to enhance productivity and project performance.
  • Stay informed on best practices for software impacting digital design.
  • Promote integration and efficiency tools to increase effectiveness in the project delivery process.


STANDARDS



  • Responsible for design documentation and technology standards, including training, development, implementation, enforcement, enhancement, and change management.
  • Create, organize, and maintain software templates, catalogs, tools, LISP routines, tool palettes, and script files to ensure high standards adoption across all offices.
  • Involved in automating processes and tasks using Dynamo, VBA, and/or integrations with 3rd-party tools.
  • Partner with the Quality Assurance/Quality Control team and subject matter experts to increase adherence to company and client standards of project documentation.
  • Work with various committees to strategize project delivery, company operations, best practices, guidelines, and implementation across all offices.
  • Create standards documentation and materials for ease of adoption across all offices.


MANAGEMENT



  • Work closely with Substation and T&D department leadership and project teams within the Power LLS, ensuring needs are met.
  • Maintain and enhance workflow processes that promote user involvement in feedback channels to improve and optimize existing project delivery and internal/external 2D standards.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in design delivery utilizing AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and MicroStation.


TRAINING



  • Provide fundamental and intermediate training on software processes.
  • Conduct internal continuing education training sessions.
  • Provide technical orientation for new hires regarding design technology tools.
  • Create training documentation and materials for ease of adoption across all offices.
  • Attend conferences, seminars, and workshops related to design technology to incorporate learning into company processes and training.


PROJECT INTERFACE



  • Support project standards and coordination with clients.
  • Assist on project work, including support for design, drafting, and detailing questions.
  • Assist project teams in project setup and execution planning.
  • Help resolve design and coordination issues.
  • Act as a support escalation point between IT help desk and software vendors for complex design software issues.


EDUCATION



  • Associate's degree in drafting, architectural, or engineering design, or related field required; bachelor's degree preferred.



What We Expect from You



  • Minimum of 10 years of experience utilizing AutoCAD and MicroStation for large, complex projects.
  • At least 2 years of experience or equivalent in a CADD leadership/mentorship role, including process and standards development.
  • Expertise with AutoCAD and MicroStation required.
  • Expertise with AutoCAD Electrical and experience with Substation Design Suite preferred.
  • Familiarity with project delivery software such as ProjectWise, BIM 360, or Autodesk Construction Cloud preferred.
  • Strong computer, technical, and communication skills required.
  • Ability to resolve issues through close interaction with other project team members.
  • Strong communication, training, and coaching skills (verbal and written).
  • Self-motivated with a drive to succeed.
  • Experience in the power sector or infrastructure is a plus but not required.
  • Must have permanent authorization to work in US.

Additional Opportunity Details:
Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $87,600- $118,500
* Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your job specific skills, education, training, job location, number of years of experience related to this role and comparison to other employees already in this role
