Position Description

Performs instructional and educational work while serving as a teacher in a classroom/lab. Organizes and develops course work, coordinates classes for students, observes and assesses the needs of the students. Maintains communication both formally and informally with students and other educators. May supervise clerical, professional and/or technical employees and lab students working for college credit.

Major/Essential Functions


  • Collaborate with colleagues within the K-12 GEO department in planning, implementing, and structuring
  • programs to meet department and university goals of community outreach.
  • Prepare, transport, set-up/display, and store program materials for presentations.
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet the varying needs and interests of students across
  • grade levels.
  • Public speaking and promotion of K-12 GEO programs.
  • Instruct students individually and in groups using various teaching methods.
  • Create engaging and effective internationally focused instructional programs based on the TEKS.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and teaching certification required.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Three to five years of classroom teaching experience.
  • Public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of standards-based program development, various methods for delivering instruction, differentiation of instruction, and brain-based learning.
  • In depth knowledge of various content areas ranging from Texas, US, World History, World Geography, and World Cultures.
  • Additional certifications in Reading, Special Education, or ESL; Bi-Lingual. Computer and technology skills.
