Associate Vice-President for Development/Executive Director, Parkland Foundation

This position is an on-campus, full-time, exempt, 12-month administrative appointment with an annual salary of $131,183.21

The Associate Vice President for Development/Executive Director of the Parkland Foundation implements comprehensive fundraising efforts to generate financial and material support for the college. This role also fosters positive, long-lasting relationships between the college and alumni, community members, corporations, and foundations. Additionally, the Associate Vice President/Executive Director maintains a continuous dialogue with the college President, the Vice President for Strategic Partnerships and Workforce Innovation, and the Parkland College Foundation Board to establish long-term fundraising goals and strategic plans.

The Associate Vice President/Executive Director will cast an ambitious vision for the Parkland Foundation and develop a roadmap for the organization to actualize that vision. As a member of the President's cabinet, the Associate Vice President/Executive Director collaborates with the college's executive leadership team to advance the college's mission and identify opportunities for foundation support. The position will maintain strong relationships with the Parkland College Foundation Board, leverage board members' expertise, and keep members apprised on all matters related to fundraising activities. Reporting directly to the Vice President for Strategic Partnerships and Workforce Innovation, the Associate Vice President/Executive Director will also collaborate with leaders from the marketing and public relations and grants functions to develop comprehensive strategies for cultivating resources and community relationships that inspire broad community support for the college and its students.

This position develops the Foundation strategic plan in alignment with the college's strategic plan; engages the college's alumni network; and supervises the Foundation staff. Additionally, the Associate Vice President/Executive Director of the Parkland Foundation collaborates with advisory committees of volunteers to guide fundraising initiatives and outreach efforts.

Supervises: The Foundation staff, including Professional Support Staff (PSS) and part-time employees.

Essential Job Functions:

Fundraising Leadership

  • Plan, organize, and administer fundraising programs to support the college's mission and financial goals.
  • Oversee gift prospect research and manage the process for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting planned gifts and major gift prospects.
  • Plan and implement annual fundraising campaigns, including events and outreach initiatives.
  • Coordinate the development of promotional materials such as publications, videos, and other resources to support fundraising efforts.

Community Engagement & Relationship Building

  • Build awareness among employers and community partners about the need for financial support for Parkland College.
  • Develop and maintain volunteer groups to enhance the financial and programmatic well-being of the college.
  • Educate and guide the Foundation Board on fundraising strategies and initiatives.

Public Relations & Advocacy

  • Act as the primary advocate for Parkland College during fundraising and community events, serving as a visible and engaged representative.
  • Organize, plan, and conduct special events to enhance the reputation and visibility of the college in the community.
  • Deliver presentations and speeches to groups and stakeholders to build support and raise awareness of the college's mission.

Administrative & Operational Oversight

  • Set the agenda for Foundation meetings and oversee administrative processes in conjunction with the Foundation President.
  • Develop procedures for timely and accurate gift acknowledgement and accounting, ensuring compliance with financial reporting standards.
  • Create and manage the annual budget for the Foundation, oversee long-range fundraising planning, and propose policies and practices.
  • Analyze financial data, oversee the annual audit process, and implement deferred giving strategies.
  • Conduct personnel management, including hiring, training, and evaluating staff, in line with college policies and collective bargaining agreements.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required, with at least seven (7) years of increasingly responsible experience in fundraising, nonprofit management, or foundation activities, including a minimum of three (3) years in a leadership or management role.
  • Must be able to obtain a bond.
  • Extensive knowledge of fundraising practices, including major gifts, planned giving, and donor cultivation.
  • Pre-employment/post-offer criminal background check and credit check required.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with community members, business leaders, trustees, the Foundation Board, college leadership, faculty, staff, and volunteers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to mobilize volunteers to advance the institution's mission.
  • Familiarity with foundation management software and the ability to quickly learn new digital tools and application.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
