Position Summary

Under the direction of the Asst. Director of Residence Life and Student Housing, and the supervision of theStudent Housing Services Supervisor, this position plays an integral role in the quality of the on-campus experience within the University residence halls.

UNM Residence Life and Student Housing endeavors to foster inclusive, community-based living environments consciously designed for our residents' personal growth and academic success in well-maintained facilities.

This position contributes to the department mission by working with a team of peers to perform to a high standard of excellence at the Lobo Rainforest Customer Service Desk.

Duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide general administrative assistant support functions in the day-to-day operations of the Lobo Rainforest Customer Service Desk.
  • Answer phones, and emails,andaddress day-to-day questions, concerns, or issues.
  • Document customer service inquiries and interactions
  • Document shift occurrences
  • Administer general resident transactions, such as check-in, room change procedures and housing applications.
  • Process mailroom packages in/ out
  • Input resident work orders into the department facility service database, distribute, log, and track keys issued to residents when locked out of their living spaces, and perform routine inventory checks ofdepartment keys and office materials.
  • Monitor emergency equipment and respond to residence hall emergencies, which may include contacting University Police and/or Albuquerque Fire Department, activating alarm systems, and dispatching Safety and Security Staff.
  • Operate personal computer to input data utilizing provided hardware, software, and applications
  • Communicate with supervisor and fellow staff members through set office procedures
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

In addition to the duties and responsibilities indicated above, conditions of employment include:

  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings and training seminars.
  • Work rotating shifts from 8am-8pm a couple of times each week.
  • Begin work approximatelytwo to threeweeks before the academic semester begins, continue work through the end of the academic semester, and work scheduled hours during University breaks and vacation periods.
  • May not work over28 hours per week.
  • Must be available to work on an emergency basis.
  • Be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours each academic semester, excluding summer.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher

Qualifications/Mandatory requirements of this position include:

Must have experience living or working in UNM Residence Life & Student Housing as well as be a current UNM student with at least one semester of university experience. As well as experience and/or ability to perform the following functions:

  • Experience performing customer service and administrative support in an office setting
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to understand and follow specific and detail-oriented instructions and procedures
  • Friendly, customer service-oriented attitude
  • Ability to arrive on time to shift and be ready to work
  • Ability to look at problems and issues holistically
  • Experience providing clear and concise instructions
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information with discretion
  • Experience living in the UNM on campus residence halls
  • Availability to work up to 20 hours per week, holiday and weekend shifts
