Job Overview

The Transportation Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of transportation strategies, policies and programs that support the corporation's & platform's service and financial goals. This position will oversee all modes and all movement types for all raw, WIP and finished good products for all assigned divisions in a given Strategic Business Unit.

A Day In The Life

Working within the corporate guidelines to manage Transportation Service Providers &internal relationships for assigned Business Unit. This includes but is not limited to:



  • Selection & negotiation of providers, rates, and service expectations - worldwide.
  • Ensuring that all Transportation Contracts are correct and up to date.
  • Provide constant training to all buyers, product managers, customer service teams and shipping locations as to the cost opportunities effectively utilizing sound transportation practices.
  • Perform analysis of transportation data to ensure compliance and recommendation of improvement practices.
  • Assist Hubbell with Transportation Provider RFQ initiatives. This includes but is notlimited to:
  • Preparing all data necessary for proper Provider responses.
  • Analyzing results from Provider's responses and making recommendations.
  • Work with shipping locations to execute lowest cost mode of transport.
  • Create and distribute various reports that are used to measure Hubbell's logistics performance both cost and efficiency perspectives.
  • Monitor Providers' outstanding invoices. Assure payments are processed timely and to the agreed upon contract terms.
  • Monitor execution of shipments and assure proper shipping documents are used per corporate guidelines.
  • Work with shipping / receiving locations to ensure proper claims processes and procedures are followed.
  • Exhibit a professional and ethical attitude at all times.


What will help you thrive in this role?

  • A Bachelor's degree is required, with a focus on Logistics or Operations preferred
  • A minimum of 3 ( +) years of Transportation Management experience is needed
  • Experience with a Transportation Management System (TMS) is preferred
  • Knowledge of SAP TMS would be ideal but not required.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft products, i.e., Excel, Access, etc.) and data analysis is needed
  • Must possess strong negotiation, process improvement and communication skills
  • Ability to build consensus and sell your objectives within the team and to the business' you serve
