Senior Network Engineer-Hybrid

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Network Engineer to join our team. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining a robust, secure, and scalable network infrastructure. The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for managing network architecture, troubleshooting complex network issues, ensuring network security, and optimizing network performance to support our organization's needs.

The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of network engineering principles, proven hands-on experience, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement. They will work closely with other IT teams to ensure network reliability, performance, and security, supporting both on-premises and cloud environments.

What you will be doing:
  • Responsible for implementation, configuration, and support of internal and/or external networks and its infrastructure (i.e routers, switches, firewalls, etc.). You will work closely with the Info-Security Team and Systems Administrators with the overall performance and availability of our Global Network (24x7) and provide support and guidance with all Network related infrastructure issues. In addition you will also work closely with our Systems Administration and Applications Teams relating to Cloud based Network configuration and strategy.

  • Network Design & Implementation:
    • Design, configure, and deploy complex network solutions including LAN/WAN, firewalls, routers, switches, VPN switches, VPNs, load balancers, and wireless networks.

    • Architect and implement solutions that ensure high availability, scalability, and security for on-premises and cloud environments.

  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting
    • Manage and maintain network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.

    • Troubleshoot network issues, diagnose root causes, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.

    • Conduct regular network performance tuning, monitoring, and optimization.

  • Security & Compliance:
    • Implement and maintain network security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and access controls.

    • Ensure compliance with security protocols, policies, and industry standards.

    • Monitor network activity for potential security breaches and mitigate risks promptly.

  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Work closely with other teams, including cybersecurity, systems engineering, and cloud teams, to coordinate network initiatives and implementations.

    • Act as an escalation point for junior network engineers and provide mentorship, training, and guidance.

    • Communicate network architecture, issues, and changes effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Maintain up-to-date documentation of network configurations, topologies, and infrastructure changes.

    • Generate regular reports on network performance, incidents, and key metrics.

    • Develop and update network policies, procedures, and disaster recovery plans.

What we hope you bring to this role:

  • Vocational or technical education - Required. Bachelor's Degree - Preferred. Will accept 5+ years of experience in lieu of degree

  • Requires 5+ related professional IT experience supporting an enterprise network

Additional Job Requirements
  • Must have knowledge of networking, systems installation and maintenance

  • Must possess communication skills to exchange information and resolve problems with clients/users/vendors

  • Experience with Cisco routers and switches

  • Experience with Citrix Loadbalancers

  • Experience with Cisco/Meraki wireless access points, wireless controllers and management

  • Microsoft Azure Cloud Experience

  • Experience with Fortigate firewalls and products

  • Experience with Azure networking and cloud related infrastructure

  • Thorough knowledge of routing protocols and application delivery.

  • Experience with fibre channel is a plus, but not essential

  • CCNA/CCNP/Azure certifications are a plus, but not essential

  • Initiative and follow through

  • Ability to work independently
