The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Olive Laboratory at Columbia University Medical Center seeks a highly organized and motivated Administrative Assistant to support our groundbreaking research in pancreatic cancer. Our team is dedicated to translating laboratory discoveries into life-saving clinical treatments. As a key member of our dynamic group, you will coordinate diverse team activities, manage administrative tasks, and contribute to the advancement of our Precision Medicine program.

Responsibilities



  • Manage the primary investigator's calendar and schedule appointments
  • Coordinate travel arrangements, and process expense reports and reimbursements
  • Schedule and organize meetings with faculty, scientists, and collaborators
  • Provide administrative support for grant applications and management
  • Copyedit laboratory manuscripts
  • Manage lab supply orders, purchase reconciliation, and instrument maintenance
  • Collaborate with vendors to negotiate optimal pricing
  • Maintain laboratory website, calendars, and shared documents
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Precision Medicine program
  • Perform additional related duties as needed


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, training and experience
  • Two years of relevant administrative experience
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and online collaboration tools
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills


Preferred Qualifications



  • Two years of relevant administrative experience
  • Experience in a biology research laboratory setting
  • Grant submission and management experience, particularly NIH grants
  • Purchasing or procurement experience in an academic or research environment
  • Demonstrated interest in biology or cancer research


Other Requirements



  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
