Position Summary

Position supports initiatives related to energy efficiency/demand response evaluation, measurement & verification (EMV), regulatory compliance and operational support for portfolio planning and regulatory reporting purposes. Responsibilities include the creation of analytics for product development and regulatory filing requirements emphasizing energy efficiency (EE) and demand response by providing project management and technical expertise on special projects requested of the Analytics department. Individuals in this role may help draft testimony, create filing exhibits for regulatory proceedings and compliance, and present EMV results to respective regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of Energy Efficiency/Demand Response/Direct Load Control strategy and programs.

  • Evaluate the value of and propose changes to enhance the value of energy efficiency and demand response programs.

  • Support the development of regulatory applications and filings concerning energy efficiency and demand response programs.

  • Support analysis and may help draft testimony on policy positions as well as analytical results as required relative to energy efficiency and demand response programs.

  • Track and evaluate federal, state, and local policies related to energy efficiency and demand response programs.

  • Routinely meet and communicate with internal project developers, program managers and stakeholders, as well as third party evaluators and consultants to stay abreast of market information.

  • Review and provide input into EMV plans and schedules.

  • Review EMV Impact and Evaluation reports and associated EMV deliverables for accuracy and compliance.

  • Communicate and present results from EMV reports and preliminary findings.

  • Help track EMV reports and recommendations, regulatory orders regarding EMV, and other EMV commitments.

  • Help prepare presentations for external stakeholders summarizing EMV results.

  • Support other areas of the company with advanced technical expertise (e.g., Strategic Planning, Asset Planning, Products & Services, Rates).

  • Work with internal customers to provide analytical support for program design and implementation.

  • Provide expertise to project teams and other areas within the company.

  • Proactively seek opportunities to support internal and external customers.

  • Assist program managers with understanding the relationship of EMV with program objectives, insights, campaign results, and participation.

  • Educate and consult with retail EE program teams on EMV processes and application of EMV results.

  • Provide support for program managers offering new or revised versions of programs. Guide the program managers to provide the information necessary to evaluate the new or changed features of the measures/programs.

Required/Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Market Research, Finance, Statistics, Business or Economics AND three (3) years minimum required related work experience

  • In lieu of Bachelors degree(s) AND 3 years related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND seven (7) years related work experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Statistics, Finance, Business, Economics or Market Research AND four (4) years related work experience

  • Knowledgeable in statistical methodologies, DSM cost-effectiveness analysis, financial analysis, and marketing effectiveness measurement

  • Ability to communicate clearly, written and verbal

  • Ability to efficiently analyze data

  • Good interpersonal / team skills

  • Demonstrated effective work habits, e.g., displaying initiative and persistence in carrying out work assignments, seeking to continually improve knowledge and skills, knowledge and innovation in support of continuous improvement and enhanced productivity.

  • Demonstrated communication skills in public forums

  • Experience reading and analyzing technical reports and communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid Mobility Classification - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility.
