Exciting opportunity! Wabtec is hiring a Materials Specialist in Chicago, IL! Pay: $22-25/hr based on experience + $1/hr night shift differential Schedule: Sunday-Tuesday and every other Wednesday, or Saturday-Tuesday and every other Tuesday, from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM. As a Materials Specialist, you will support the maintenance of GE/Wabtec locomotives at our client's BNSF facility by ensuring materials are available for repairs and maintenance. You'll manage inventory and logistics in a fast-paced 24/7 environment, working as part of a skilled team. Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure your success in materials management for cutting-edge locomotive engines. Your Typical Day Includes: Managing inventory and control metrics Pulling and issuing materials to locomotives Performing stockouts management and cycle counts Forecasting material needs for inbound and in-shop locomotives Coordinating shipments and handling paperwork Operating forklifts and conducting daily inspections Assisting with restocking, maintaining warehouse organization, and supporting warranty claims What We're Looking for in You: High school diploma, GED, or 2+ years of relevant experience Basic math skills and logistics/shipping experience Forklift operation and safe equipment handling Strong attention to detail and multitasking ability Dependable, positive, team-oriented attitude Ability to work in a warehouse/shop environment with a flexible schedule Physical ability to stand, walk, climb, and work in tight spaces Ability to work overnight shifts and extended hours Comfortable wearing PPE and using a computer Wabtec Employee Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) match, paid time off and holidays, tuition reimbursement, uniform allowance, supplies and tools provided by Wabtec, and much more!
