The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS), in both the College of Engineering and the College of Computing, Data Science, and Society (CDSS) is the largest academic department on the Berkeley campus, consisting of over 130 faculty, active emeriti, professors-in-residence, and adjunct professors, 3600+ undergraduates in both Engineering and CDSS, 750+ graduate students, and 60+ staff. EECS programs are consistently ranked in the top three by many measures, including U.S. News & World Report's national and global ranking. Annual operating budget (not including expenditures related to research. faculty start-ups, and student fellowships) for EECS is $40+ million. The Department is actively engaged in teaching and research in the disciplines of Artificial Intelligence, Computational Biology, Databases, Graphics, Hardware / Architecture, Human Computer Interaction, Operating Systems / Networking, Programming Systems / Software, Scientific Computing, Theory, Vision (in Computer Science) as well as Biosystems, Communication/Networking, Communications/Physical Layer, Control, Design, Modeling, and Analysis, Electromagnetics/Antennas, Integrated Circuits, Optics, Physical Electronics Devices, Physical Electronics/MEMS, Optoelectronics, Energy, Robotics, Signal Processing for Image & Video, Signal Processing for Speech & Audio (in Electrical Engineering). Computer Science operates research and instructional laboratories in Soda Hall, Sutardja Dai Hall, and other off-campus sites, and Electrical Engineering operates similar facilities in Cory Hall, Sutardja Dai Hall, and other off-campus sites. EECS also has a significant technical staff support structure to provide support for research and instructional laboratories and fabrication facilities. The AV IT Engineer 3 role involves applying user-centered design processes, industry standards, engineering, or best practices to create, evaluate and modify designs and prototypes in support of audio visual (AV) systems design. Creates plans and specifications for highly detailed, complex AV IT projects based on clients' needs aligning design with codes, regulations and AV IT engineering best practices. The incumbent communicates to client and monitors projects, as well as creates documentation and specifications for third party installation teams and verifies installation work. This individual coordinates with other construction engineering teams, participates in building meetings and coordinates inspections. Application Review Date

25% Assists in design and troubleshooting on AV systems by applying AV/IT engineering principles using current AV standards and brands. Manages a full range of complex AV IT projects from initial client contact through design, engineering, final installation and system commissioning. Assists in responding to change requests, requests for information (RFI), submittals and other key project-related documents and reports. 20% Assists in designs facilities and systems based on needs, applicable codes and regulations and AV principles and best practices. Creates detailed drawings and proposals in Google Suite or applicable software to include AV flow diagrams, schematics and AV infrastructure drawings. Maintain and create work scope including documentation, drawings and schematics needed by client. Verifies phases or components of systems designed are installed to plan specifications and communicates assessment to client with suggested remediation if needed. 20% Conducts product research and provides recommendations including approaches, trends, sources and uses that have a significant impact on individual or multiple departments. Assists in reviewing and estimating schedules and design phrases including equipment, installation, labor, materials and other related costs. Good organization skills, maintains and keep track of existing inventory of equipment, media production footages and equipment and also maintain inventory levels on cables and parts use. 15% Support events that may fall outside of regular hours. Be flexible with scope of work; familiar with operating of AV equipment that are used for in live streaming and conferencing software like Zoom. 10% Produce video created based on needs, such as to promote the department's needs. Be flexible to deliver on time even on a short notice. 10% Work with team members in support of instruction labs as needed. Be able to apply engineering skills to assist in any instructional needs.
