Description

As our Operations Systems Engineer II-III, you will help MISO maintain reliable and efficient energy market outcomes by ensuring MISO's Energy and Ancillary Services market system software works as designed and effectively meets the needs of control room operations. You will be responsible for investigating and troubleshooting market outcomes and customer questions. You will also be responsible for carrying out core business engineering initiatives related to the Energy and Ancillary Services Market and development of new system enhancements and market products.

As the Operations Systems Engineer II-III, you will be part of a team that is exposed to the innermost workings of the Energy and Ancillary Services Market. The energy market is central to the value MISO provides and creates an excellent opportunity for further development as your engineering experience grows. Demonstrating a high level of curiosity will be a great benefit and lead to success in this position.

You will also work on major projects such as Day Ahead & Real Time Market Clearing Engine Re-design, Multi-Configuration Resources, Distributed Energy Resources, and FERC Order 881 on Ambient Adjusted Rating.

In one year as our Operations Systems Engineer II-III, you will know you were successful if:



  • You can independently support the Energy Market System by answering inquiries, investigating market outcomes, and testing market system software.
  • You have developed relationships with key customers and support teams to enable collaborative issue investigation and solution development.
  • You have used your creativity to create at least one process improvement initiative.


We are looking for talented professionals who hold a bachelor's degree or higher in one of several engineering disciplines. Please refer to the list below for the qualifying degrees.

Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
