The Corporate Supply Chain Department is seeking a dynamic and talented Assistant Director - Contracts.

The Assistant Director - Contracts leads all aspects of Sourcing and Contracting spend categories for 392 facilities including the leadership and development of associated Contract Staff. Responsible for over $100,000,000 in annual RFP management. Including: Data analytics, RFP process management, CEO and Physician conversation as appropriate and strategic negotiations with suppliers. Oversees and manages 20+ RFP's at a time. Leads the prudent sourcing of commodities, equipment, and services, including but not limited to investigating alternatives, reviewing cost effectiveness, and soliciting bids. Provides direction to staff and leads the development and implementation of sourcing opportunities across all UHS divisions including: Acute Care, Behavioral Health, and Independent Physician Management divisions and corporate. Leads supplier management and contract compliance programs. Assists with the development of annual sourcing calendar to guide staff regarding priorities and to drive expense reduction. Manages the contract review process to validate the appropriate terms, conditions, pricing, vendors, and approvals. Leads development of policies and procedures for corporate and local staff.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Manages Sourcing and Contracting spend categories including the leadership and development of associated Contract Staff.
  • Leads all sourcing related activities following strict sourcing guidelines and utilizing prescribed sourcing methodologies.
  • Develops and executes sourcing or utilization related initiatives that generate annualized cost reduction
  • Negotiates new contracts or enhancements to existing contracts with account representatives. Attempts to convey such new contracts or enhancements through UHS' specified GPO, as available.
  • Leads the review and routing of contracts per established procedures.
  • Initiates, renews and handles expiration of contracts in a timely manner.
  • Evaluates and prioritizes existing contracts for opportunities to improve contract benefits and/or reduce costs.
  • Manages innovation in improving contracting processes; leading contract compliance; and contract performance.
  • Facilitates quarterly business reviews with key suppliers to ensure alignment of goals and progress related to key initiatives.
  • Leads implementation of completed agreements.
  • Ensures financial and service level goals are met.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 8 years in progressively challenging leadership roles in sourcing, negotiations, and supplier management.
  • Strong subject matter expertise in sourcing across multiple categories.
  • Strong leadership presence to evaluate business opportunities, major contracts, and relationships. Strong group dynamic skills to lead facility teams to accomplish established goals.
  • Projects a positive attitude and team orientation.
  • Needs to be effective in recovery skills and exhibit a strong work ethic.
  • Deep knowledge of contract terms and conditions.
  • Excellent written, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Detail oriented with good organization skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle a high volume of work with deadlines.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel.

Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel based on projects.
