Job Summary

The Fire and Rescue Department is looking for a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to support our pharmaceutical operations. In this role, you will assist in the procurement and distribution of medications, maintain inventory, and ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain adequate stock of medications and supplies, ensuring compliance with established policies.
  • Pre-pack and restock medications and manage automated dispensing systems (ADDS).
  • Assist the Pharmacy Manager with medication purchasing and inventory control.
  • Maintains control, accountability, and distribution of controlled medications within the Pharmacy and when distributing to satellite locations.
  • Assists the Pharmacy Manager with tracking use of a controlled medication to a specific patient utilizing electronic patient care reports and medication tracking software.
  • Conduct pharmacy inspections and monitor expiration dates.
Hiring salary commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a pharmacy setting, including ambulatory care or emergency services pharmacy within the past two (2) years.
  • Experience with automated drug dispensing systems (preferred).

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

  • Successful candidate will undergo a criminal background check, including fingerprinting, credit and DMV check.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid, unrestricted Pharmacy Technician license in at least one state territory, or commonwealth of the U.S.
  • Prefer graduate of a Pharmacy Technician program accredited by the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists (ASHP) such as the Pharmacy Technical Certification Board or have successfully completed a formal (i.e. technical or hospital-based program) pharmacy technician training program.
  • May be required to work early morning or late evening meetings or extra hours in the evening or on the weekends.
