Participate in introductory nuclear design specific training and education that will lead to a Westinghouse Nuclear Design (ND) qualification.
Embrace the nuclear culture - Understand what makes Nuclear special and implement human performance tools and operating experience to produce high quality error free customer deliverables.
Perform nuclear core design reload calculations by using the internal and external nuclear core design simulation coeds, following internal methodology and design manuals, and consulting with experienced peer and mentor engineers.
Participants will interpret the results and work with independent engineering verifiers and to produce and deliver quality calculations to operating PWR plants.
Participate in engineering learning seminars to maintain qualification and learn and apply lessons learned and operational experience in core design.
Become a member of a core reload team and interact regularly with the nuclear plant customer to provide high quality analyses on a core reload schedule.
Candidate will be required to interface with functional groups within Core Engineering (Thermal Hydraulics, Fuel Rod Design, Project Management) and groups outside CE (Safety Analysis and Licensing).
Examples of the type of nuclear design calculations may include the following for Westinghouse PWRplant designs:
Bounding Nuclear Core Calculations, Core Accident Scenarios, Core Loading Pattern Designs
Best Estimate Core Models and Core Monitoring Input
Core Startup Calculations and Low Power Physics Testing Requirements
Economical Models, Estimates, and Engineering Technical Descriptions
Who You Are: As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:
Bachelor's Nuclear Engineering Required (not open to other engineering disciplines).
Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred
Applicable experience preferred
Interest in Core Neutronics and Nuclear Fuel Design
Computer simulation experience preferred, but not strictly required
