Manufacturing Apprentice - TRADES

POSITION OVERVIEW

Are you a post-secondary or community college student in an Advanced Manufacturing program looking to gain hands-on experience in manufacturing while continuing your education? dormakaba is looking for motivated individuals to join our team as Part-Time Machinist Apprentices. In this role, you will work under the guidance of experienced machinists, gaining practical skills and training while contributing to our manufacturing operations. This position is tailored to fit your school schedule, offering flexibility and the opportunity to develop a career in machining.

Starting Wage: $17.00 per hour

Location: 6161 E. 75th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46250

Desired Schedule:

Hours of Operation: 24 Hours - 3 Shifts, Monday through Friday, with some opportunities to work on Saturdays. Actual work times will be negotiated between the Apprentice and their direct Supervisor. dormakaba will adhere to all State and Federal laws pertaining to pay and work hours.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Understand and adhere to all dormakaba Safety rules and Code of Conduct.
• Understand and comply with dormakaba's Quality Management System and monitor work per Quality Assurance Inspection Procedure
• 100% completion of all Safety, Quality, On the Job Training (OJT), and Classroom requirements for the internal certification process.

• Adjust and align equipment to ensure optimal performance
• Learn and understand work orders, routings, and process flow
• Operate machines safety and report issues to the supervisor/team lead
• Assist in reading blueprints and using precision instruments like calipers, micrometers, and height gauges to ensure dimension and tolerance specifications are met

WHAT WE REQUIRE

• Apprentice must have their own reliable transportation to and from the work location.
• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary trade or community college program related to manufacturing or machining.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a desire to learn.
• Ability to work part-time (up to 20-25 hours per week), with a flexible schedule that accommodates your school commitments.

• Has interest in blueprint reading, precision tools and instrumentation
