Job Duties
- Duties include monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, upgrades and repair of all Turnpike technology system hardware including, but not limited to, MARCS two-way radio system, Intercom systems, Motorola Elite dispatch console system, DWDM fiber optic communication system, Axis cameras, VoIP telephone system including ancillary components, -48VDC power plant systems, uninterruptible power supplies, S2 controlled access system, DPS alarming systems, data switches, Wi-Fi components, servers, PCs, monitors, printers and other computer-based or electronic equipment.
- Perform and maintain records for preventative maintenance of all telecommunications and technology system equipment.
- Perform site inspections of all Turnpike telecommunications equipment rooms, communications tower sites and all related equipment locations for system repairs, upgrades, and new installations; and coordinate repairs and/or installations performed by contracted service providers (i.e.; warranty repairs, communications tower issues, installation of new systems, etc.).
- Maintain inventory of spare hardware and repair parts; make recommendations for improvements and/or the introduction of new technologies for existing or new telecommunications/technology infrastructure; document and communicate problem resolutions with Technology staff.
- Assist other departments with technology issues/projects.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Technology Specialist Supervisor, Technology Manager, or Chief Information Officer.

Major Worker Characteristics
- Knowledge of computer science or related field; computer network hardware, software and operating systems and procedures; network administration/network technology.
- Skill in the operation of computer-based equipment, peripheral components, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to comprehend extensive variety of technical material, troubleshoot and define problems, collect data, establish facts, create action plans, and resolve technical issues, be attentive to detail, develop system documentation, communicate verbally and in writing on complex technical and non-technical matters.
- Cooperate with co-workers on group projects, establish effective working relationships and prioritize tasks without direct supervision.
- Flexibility to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances, work in a multi-tasking environment, adapt to changing work priorities and work under time constraints.
- High regard for attention to detail.

Minimum Qualifications
- One year of relevant undergraduate coursework, training or equivalent formal military training in a technical discipline related to the above-described responsibilities required.
- Minimum of five (5) years' practical experience in the telecommunications/technology industry.
Unusual Working Conditions
- Employee will be required to be on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days per week on a rotating schedule.
- Work is typically completed both indoor and outdoor at Turnpike facilities in a variety of weather conditions. Employee will be required to work from ladders or bucket trucks, in roadside equipment cabinets and with underground conduit.
