Manager - Radiology In conjunction with the Imaging Director, the Imaging Manager is responsible for the oversight, management, and operational planning of the Imaging Department. This position has 24/7 accountability and responsibility for assigned area(s). Essential Job Duties:
- LEADERSHIP
- Provides a positive and professional atmosphere throughout the Imaging Department.
- Supervises clinical, technical, and non-technical staff to assure efficient and quality patient care.
- Completes annual reviews in a timely manner.
- Provides coaching, counseling, and Performance Management for staff in collaboration with Imaging Director and/or HR as appropriate.
- Submits timely all administrative assignments assigned.
- Assists with the interviewing and/or hiring of new employees, as well as the orientation of new employees.
- Covers for absent employees and/or the Imaging Director.
- Is familiar with and maintains the RIS/PACS, CDPH-RHB, RML records, as well as TJC standards, and department compliance.
- Advocates for the Imaging Department and supports the Imaging Director as needed.
- Displays positive traits and qualities needed for a successful manager; can effectively work with changes in the environment and participate as a team player.
- ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITY
- Reports problems relating to staff morale, work methods, and procedures to the Imaging Director and makes recommendations for improvements.
- Monitors staff levels and assists with employee and patient schedules as needed.
- Coordinates and integrates interdepartmental services. Documents all customer service responses and consistently identifies ways to improve customer service and feedback while reducing customer/patient complaints.
EDUCATION
Participates in and provides educational opportunities for staff development. Attends one in-service per quarter. Responsible for maintaining employee in-service and educational records. Completes and ensures staff compliance with Environment of Care, Fire Safety, and Radiation Safety protocols.
- SCHEDULING
- Maintains department schedules, including all Imaging Departments, fixed hours and on-call.
- Coordinates after hour cases based on patient, physician, and staffing needs and availability.
- SUPPLIES & INVENTORY
- Responsible for ensuring adequate supplies are in stock and ordered when needed.
- Assists with ordering special items and the items are billed appropriately, based on observations through daily reconciliation of charges.
- Ensures CDPH-RHB Machine Registration is accurate and up to date.
- QUALITY CONTROL
- Assists with departmental quality improvement activities.
- Participates in evaluations/study methods to improve quality care.
- Assists and ensures that services are provided in an effective and efficient manner.
- Assigns and monitors the running of daily quality control activities in the Imaging Department.
- Maintains quality control logs and reports compliance (repeat analysis) to the Imaging Director.
- Reports on safety issues, and performance improvement.
- Submits turn-a-around (TAT) data on various modalities for emergency room procedures.
- BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITY
- Assists in controlling department costs, at a minimum staying within budget guidelines, with the goal of exceeding budget projections.
- Able to maintain department capital and operational budgets; identifying annual capital needs, as well as control/reduce labor costs on a daily/annual basis.
- Maintains the KRONOS payroll system and staffing productivity.
- Actively supports and promotes a union-free environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION:
- Minimum two years of supervisory experience required
- Minimum five years' experience in Radiology within an acute care facility required
- Bachelor's degree required; directly related experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- Master's degree preferred
- Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
- California State Radiologic certification and Fluoroscopy certification required
- AART required
- Current BLS and ACLS from American Heart Association required
- Society affiliation, i.e. ASRT preferred
