DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Food Service Instructor, you will lead inmate workers and provide instruction using hands-on vocational training. You will oversee inmates in food preparation, production, service, and baking. You will inspect all food service areas, equipment, and food for compliance with established safety and sanitation standards. In addition, you will ensure that meals are prepared and served in a timely manner. This role requires the ability to establish effective working relationships that foster learning, while maintaining proper control over inmates by enforcing custody and security regulations at all times. - Full-time employment, 40 hours per week.
- DOC is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, work hours to be determined.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $46,986.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
