Overview

Virginia Cancer Specialists, an affiliate of McKesson Specialty Health and US Oncology, a leader in Cancer Care, is seeking a Full Time Retail Pharmacy Tech for our Cancer Center in Fairfax. This is a Monday - Friday position, we offer paid holidays, and GREAT BENEFITS INCLUDE: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 K, and Profit Sharing Plan.

Under direct supervision of a registered pharmacist working within a licensed pharmacy, performs the technical, nonjudgemental aspects of medication preparation, distribution, record keeping and inventory control. Tasks are subject to sequential or final verification by a registered nurse or a registered pharmacist. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Specific state law may regulate that only licensed individuals perform compounding or mixing responsibilities. As a result, certain incumbents are prohibited from said tasks.


Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates the ability to interact in a positive and helpful manner with patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers, and co-workers. Reflects commitment to building a supportive work environment and maintains a positive attitude.
  • Enters prescription orders. Processes and prepares for the pharmacist to check.
  • Compounds nonsterile pharmaceutical products according to rules and regulations.
  • Prepares inventory, orders supplies and stocks shelves in the pharmacy.
  • Appropriately uses resources, such as inventory and supplies.
  • Rotates through all work areas of the pharmacy.
  • Experience with Prior Authorization of Prescriptions
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or equivalent. One to three years experience in a pharmacy. Virginia Pharmacy Technician Certification.
