Forest Technician

As a Forest Technician, your duties will include conducting tree inventory for host trees of the Spotted Lanternfly, as well as ground pest surveys as needed. Additionally, you will be involved in activities such as direct suppression, biocontrol, trapping, and sampling to manage the Spotted Lanternfly population effectively. You will also be tasked with setting up field study plots when necessary, and collecting and organizing field data in electronic form. Furthermore, you will be required to prepare written reports as needed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• This position will continue based on funding.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 5 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• An associate's degree in forest technology; or
• Completion of equivalent formal education in forestry.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Conditions of Employment:

• You must possess a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.

Other Requirements:

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
