DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Utility Plant Operator, you will be responsible for supervising inmates and maintaining proper security while ensuring work is performed under safe operating procedures. Duties of the position include reading and interpreting gauges, meters, and sensing devices, as well as cleaning and maintaining equipment. You will provide heat and hot water for institutional needs by maintaining boiler operations, including generation of medium pressure steam. In addition, you will perform general housekeeping of the plant, complete documentation and inventories, and address any concerns or obstacles with the supervisor. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment (40-hour work week)
- Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, with rotating shifts and days off.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
