In this role, you will undertake various analytical responsibilities alongside first-level supervisory tasks, which encompass training, leadership, guidance, and oversight for the (PFAS) unit within the Organic Section. Your duties will include conducting internal audits and facilitating the onboarding process for new chemists involved in PFAS analysis.

You will serve as a key resource for all personnel in the Organic Section, providing expertise on equipment operation, sample preparation, analytical methodologies, quality control procedures, documentation, and data interpretation and reporting. Additionally, you will maintain records of all necessary analytical and extraction batches, ensure the upkeep of analytical instruments, and oversee laboratory safety and sample receipt.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week after successful completion of probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $66,250.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year as a Chemist 2; or
• Two years of professional chemical analytical experience, and a bachelor's degree that includes 30 credits in chemistry or biochemistry; or
• One year of professional chemical analytical experience, and a graduate degree in chemistry.
