THE POSITION The Department of Transportation is on the lookout for candidates to fill a Transportation Technician role. This entry-level position involves engaging in technical tasks as part of a survey team, where you will play a crucial role in the operation of both manual and electronic equipment. Your work will contribute to various types of surveys, including preliminary assessments, right-of-way evaluations, engineering projects, bridge inspections, construction oversight, as well as land and property surveys. DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this role, you will operate with a high degree of independence, making field-based decisions regarding the placement and documentation of controlling and topographical points. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This position may require working in inclement conditions Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Oil City. Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or One year of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
