Job Title: CMC Transfer Medical Director Location: Virtual or office based FTE: 0.25 Position Overview: The Medical Director for the NorthShore Capacity Management Center (CMC) is a pivotal leader responsible for the centralized oversight of patient admission and transfer processes, ensuring high-quality care, regulatory compliance, and optimal resource utilization. The Medical Director will champion process improvement, foster collaboration across clinical and operational teams, and act as a key liaison with medical staff and hospital leadership. This role also includes the strategic leadership and development of the CMC Triage Physician function, promoting a culture of excellence within the CMC. Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Serve as a critical convener of interdisciplinary teams to design and implement safe, effective systems of care, proactively identifying and addressing opportunities to enhance clinical transfer processes.
- Dyad Partnership with Nursing Leadership: Collaborate with the CMC Nursing Director to jointly oversee CMC operations, ensuring alignment with NorthShore's mission, strategic goals, and organizational values.
- Clinical Protocol Development: Develop, implement, and continually refine clinical protocols to establish the CMC as a Transfer Center of Excellence, promoting best practices and standardization.
- Policy & Process Leadership: Guide process workflows, establish consensus on policies and procedures, and ensure consistent adherence to CMC standards across the team.
- Leadership of CMC Triage Physician Role: Oversee the development and management of the CMC Triage Physician function, conducting regular check-ins, performance evaluations, and growth planning for physicians in the role.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Resolve discrepancies related to patient care levels and CMC acceptance criteria, maintaining a high standard of clinical decision-making.
- Operational Adherence & Accountability: Partner with nursing leadership to ensure all CMC personnel operate within established policies, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Ambulance Provider Relationship Management: Oversee the relationship with NorthShore's preferred ambulance provider, ensuring that transfer standards meet the highest clinical and operational criteria.
- Performance Monitoring & Improvement: Review monthly CMC quality metrics, scorecards, and volume reports, and implement performance improvement plans to continuously advance CMC outcomes.
- Committee Leadership: Co-Chair the NorthShore Transfer Clinical Review Committee, leading clinical case reviews to drive process improvements and pinpoint areas for strategic growth.
- Outreach and Partnership Building: Collaborate with NorthShore leadership to build partnerships with area hospitals, enhancing communication channels and expanding the CMC's network of transferring facilities.
- Accountability and Coaching: Promote accountability for achieving established metrics, providing coaching and support to team members and other stakeholders to meet organizational objectives.
Qualifications:
- MD/DO
- Five (5) years clinical experience in their specialty and a minimum of
- Two (2) years' experience in a leadership position.
- License: Active medical license in the state of Illinois
- Board Certified
