Requisition ID req31719 Working Title Academics Coordinator - Office of Medical Student Affairs Position Grade 10 Position Summary The Office of Medical Student Affairs is seeking a highly organized, detail conscious Academic Coordinator to support the School of Medicine's medical student compliance. This position will be responsible for ensuring medical student compliance for over 400 medical students, including initiating drug testing, background checks, immunization requirements and upkeep of student health insurance information, as required by both the Department of Health and the Veterans Administration Hospital. The Academic Coordinator will also prepare special reports relevant to data from a variety of sources related to student compliance and affiliation agreement compliance. This position is also the primary administrative support for the Committee on Student Promotion and Evaluation. This individual will also be responsible for the following: * Entering and tracking student information into multiple databases, including an internal Smart Sheet, Exxat platforms and DOH database. * Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for MD Student Compliance, in accordance with established regulations, policies and standards. * Coordinate with various departments to ensure successful delivery and completion of compliance requirements; such departments include School of Medicine Undergraduate Medical Education, UNM Office of University Counsel, New Mexico Department of Health, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, UNM Student Health and Counseling, and UNM Learning Central Administration. * Will advise and assist students on compliance requirements and processes, responding to inquiries via phone, email and in person. * Develop data collection goals that align with institution's mission as well as the objectives of the national accrediting body. * Evaluate data collection processes, making suggestions for improvement as needed. * Create, organize, and monitor Committee on Student Promotion and Evaluation documents, communications and meetings. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications
Additional Requirements The successful candidate will be required to undergo a background and fingerprint check, as required by the Department of Health. Occasional (2-4 times per year) early morning or weekend work may be required during peak School of Medicine events (i.e. convocation, white coat ceremony, etc.).
