Cloud Architect

The Cloud Specialist/Architect at Cherokee Federal will design, implement, and manage cutting-edge AWS cloud solutions, enabling secure, scalable, and cost-effective infrastructure for federal clients. This role involves leading cloud migrations, collaborating across DevOps and cybersecurity teams, and developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for automation. Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Cloud Architect: $140,000 to $170,000

Pay commensurate with experience.

Cloud Architect Responsibilities Include:



  • Design and implement cloud architecture solutions on AWS, ensuring alignment with business and technical requirements
  • Support cloud migration and modernization projects, including the transformation of legacy systems to scalable and secure AWS-based environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, application development, and cybersecurity, to define and deliver robust cloud strategies
  • Provide technical leadership in the adoption of AWS services, including compute, storage, networking, and machine learning
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scripts using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation to automate infrastructure deployment
  • Develop and implement strategic action plans for customer infrastructure migration or greenfield projects on AWS.
  • Work with clients to plan, implement, and manage organizational changes.
  • Manage client technical expectations and ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Lead data migration strategies for transitioning legacy databases to AWS cloud platforms.
  • Develop, update, and manage technical documentation for AWS services, architectures, and solutions. * Collaborate with AWS engineers, architects, and product managers to translate complex concepts into clear documentation.
  • Ensure all documentation adheres to company style guides and compliance requirements.
  • Oversee the overarching DevOps strategy and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned


Cloud Architect Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:



  • Bachelor's degree
  • Four (4) to six (6) years of AWS experience
  • Experience in federal government contracting required
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate, - Associate (Professional certification is a plus). AWS Solutions Architect Professional, AWS Security Specialty, AWS Developer, Sysops and Solutions Architect Associate, and/or EMC and VMware Certified
  • Strong understanding of DevOps practices and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Experience with database performance optimization and monitoring.
  • Excellent technical documentation skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage client relationships and expectations effectively.
  • Full performance level shall be considered after 90-day probationary period upon meeting minimum education and experience requirements."
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
