Analyst - O&R FP&A - Financial Forecasting

Overview

The Analyst is responsible for supporting the development of the annual and five-year budget and forecast including the monthly financial analysis. This role also involves reporting financial statement variations that impact corporate earnings, providing input on system changes, particularly those involving interfaces with other accounting, budgeting, and work management systems, as well as assisting in the evaluation and development of new technologies to enhance efficiencies and information. Additionally, the Analyst participates in the regulatory process by preparing schedules and supporting analyses for rate case filings.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Supports the development of the annual and five-year financial forecast as well as the monthly financial analysis including coordination with appropriate organizations work plans, supporting documentation and adherence to corporate financial guidelines.
  • Assists in the preparation of monthly and quarterly Board of Directors Reports including an effective overall financial analysis of results for senior management review using relevant systems to obtain and vet necessary data.
  • Utilize Oracle financial systems to input, retrieve, develop and analyze income statement categories, plant-related matters, provide variance explanations, and answer financial related questions pertaining to operational requirements.
  • Utilizes strong Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills to input and retrieve information from the Company's financial systems to develop and display actual and budget information in a clear and concise format.
  • Prepares accounting or financial data, analysis schedules, or reports for the Company's financial statements and accounts with general guidance.
  • Assists with assignments that require financial concepts for senior management and other organizations, and supports studies specifically related to utility practices.
  • Helps develop presentations to be shared with senior management and Company organizations.
  • Represents O&R FP&A in a team environment with others or on committees as assigned.
  • Participates in the Companys emergency management processes and storm plans as necessary.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree Accounting or Finance and 2-3 years Work experience with at least 2 years direct experience in accounting, planning and analysis, budgeting or forecasting.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Understanding of O&Rs/utility business (e.g., services provided, current events) and FP&A function (e.g., objective, role, deliverables). Required
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles (e.g., Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statements) Required
  • Excellent computer skills with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office. Required
  • Must work well in team situations, be willing and able to lead and participate in cross-functional teams as required and balance various tasks and priorities. Required
  • Must be well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments and deadlines. Required
  • Must be able to communicate and listen effectively and work harmoniously with others in providing and procuring information and assisting in various duties and responsibilities as required. Required
  • Must have the ability to effectively interact with customers, support staff, and various levels of management. Required
  • Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, and organizational skills. Required
  • Systems experience a plus - Hyperion Planning, Hyperion Strategic Financial System, PowerPlant, work management systems, and budgeting tools (e.g., Oracle, SAP). Preferred
Licenses And Certfications
  • Driver's License Required
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Preferred
Additional Physical Demands
  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
