Title: Laboratory Scientist Location: Portland, Oregon (In-person) Job Type: Regular Full-time What's the Opportunity? Anchor QEA is seeking to hire a Laboratory Scientist to work full-time in the Environmental Geochemistry Laboratory in the Portland Office. We are interested in a candidate that has the capacity to grow, is a quick learner, is detail-orientated, enjoys working independently and with a team, and possesses strong written and verbal communication skills. A successful candidate will have a degree in geological science, chemistry, environmental science, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or related program as well as a strong interest in environmental geochemistry and the operation of a stellar environmental geochemistry laboratory. A successful candidate will have opportunities to work on a variety of tasks of differing complexities, both independently and in team environments, learning directly from leaders in the industry. Responsibilities: Perform environmental geochemical laboratory work, including data analysis and reporting, to support remedial investigations, feasibility studies, remedy implementation, and research and development initiatives Maintain laboratory equipment and chemical, sample, and waste inventories Develop and implement quality assurance/quality control practices and standard operating procedures Some fieldwork may be required (e.g., to support passive sampling or other sophisticated data collection) What Are We Looking For? Ideal candidates will have the following: Bachelor's degree in geological science, chemistry, environmental science, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or related program 1 to 3+ years of experience in a laboratory setting Ability to work independently in a laboratory setting with potentially hazardous substances Experience and/ or interest in passive sampling techniques Experience and/ or interest in treatability studies Experience and/ or interest in developing and carrying out research projects to improve capabilities of the laboratory, including supporting research publication efforts Experience and/ or interest in working in anaerobic chamber/controlled atmosphere conditions Experience and/ or interest in X-Ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy Experience and/ or interest in Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy Detail oriented with meticulous note taking and data organization Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to deadlines Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and other common office software What Can You Expect?
