SUMMARY:

The Radiology Technologist performs radiographic imaging studies for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.

JOB DESCRIPTION:



  • Prepares examination room to comply with safety and hygiene standards.
  • Performs patient tracking from the beginning of each procedure to the completion of exam.
  • Properly identifies patients by utilization of 2 patient identifiers and performs the AIDET communication tool for all patient encounters.
  • Assist with scheduling of patients to ensure productive workflow.
  • Processes and transfers images utilizing Picture Archiving and Communication System and reconciles daily to correct any exams on the exceptions list.
  • Evaluates images for technical quality and ensures that demographic information, including medical record number and accession numbers are accurate.
  • Technologist must mark all images with Lead Markers to designate R or L as well as three (3) initials on Lead Markers.
  • Maintains all digital and computerized radiographic equipment within manufacture standard by performing QC and calibrations when needed.
  • Cleans and inspects radiographic rooms and equipment after each use. Notifies the supervisor of needed equipment repairs immediately.
  • Responsible for stocking procedure and exam rooms at the end of each shift. Assist in training Radiology staff and students.
  • Practices radiation protection techniques using beam restrictive devices, patients shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors to minimize radiation to patients and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Must be a graduate of JRCERT approved Radiography program.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be registered within six (6) months of hire by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
