Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) and multi-program laboratory applying state of the art science and practical, high-value, cost-effective solutions to complex technical problems to protect the nation. Located at the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Savannah River Site (SRS) in Aiken, South Carolina, the laboratory develops and deploys innovative technologies to address some of the nation's most complex environmental, energy, and national security challenges. The Office of General Counsel (OGC) partners with research and operational support organizations across SRNL to advance the laboratory mission. Through this partnership approach, our attorneys and staff develop and execute strategies that facilitate compliance with applicable requirements, mitigate legal and business risks, and promote the highest ethical standards.The OGC seeks an in-house legal counsel to provide advice and legal support to staff and management at SRNL in a variety of areas with primary responsibility in the areas of procurement of goods and services, contracting, leasing and other legal agreements. A key skill is to be able to train management on identifying and managing potential legal risk. The incumbent may be called upon to work to acquire knowledge and expertise and take on responsibility in other areas spanning the broad scope of SRNL operations. For example, other relevant areas of practice could include employment, labor, and benefits law; environmental, safety and health; litigation; ethics; privacy and data security. The incumbent will also be expected to be a contributing member to a cohesive team dynamic, and to thrive in a culture of both internal consultation and collaboration among the Legal team, as well as external collaboration on multidisciplinary teams across the laboratory. In addition to these responsibilities, the person who fills this position will also be expected to act as an advisor at all levels of the SRNL organization. |
