Responsibilities

North Spring Behavioral Healthcare is hiring a Director of Residential Services!

Our Director of Residential Services provides overall leadership of the daily operations of the residential program, oversees staffing, scheduling, clinical program implementation and FTE management. This individual will develop, coordinate, and manage the program schedule and conducts performance improvement activities to achieve benchmarks for clinical indicators.

Additionally, facilitates training and staff development, with an emphasis on high quality residential care delivered in a cost-effective manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Upholds the core values to support the overall vision and mission of North Spring Behavioral Healthcare. Provides energy and inspiration. Consistently connects staff members to the mission.
  • Directs strategies, interventions and resources in order to provide the highest quality care at all times. Provides direction to the team and builds cohesive and efficient operations while delivering exceptional patient centered care. Assures the implementation of a quality treatment plan for each resident.
  • Models best practice and clinical standards of performance. Demonstrates expertise in a variety of concepts, practices and procedures directly related to treatment. Assists in providing safe delivery of care to meet the goals and objectives of each resident's plan of care.
  • Facilitates services excellence in relation to fidelity to our empirically based intervention methodology. Leads and assures clinical services are supported through the milieu interventions. Leads and assures that the milieu therapy is both evidence-based and reliably implemented.
  • Assists with the unit milieu to guide the development acceptable habits and attitudes by consistently and fairly implementing the behavioral program.
  • Leads program development and ongoing research projects. Provides consistent direction, communicates process improvement plans and initiatives, contributes to and communicates policies and procedures to improve communication flow.
  • Provides supervision and/or coaching, and training to the milieu staff to maintain the quality of interventions provided and positive outcome. Performs quality assurance by systematically reviewing staff work for complete and thoroughness.
  • Assists the Director of Education in provision of instructions and training in classroom.
  • Follows through on residents' concerns, working in conjunction with the therapy team, collaborating with the Director of Clinical Services, and/or other appropriate team members, when action is required. Completes all clinical documentations within 24 hours of provided services.
  • Ensures all program policies and procedures are routinely followed, including, but limited to admissions procedures, clinical services, compliance and legal/regulatory requirements.
  • Reviews admissions documents for potential admits on the day of the referral.
  • Reviews and monitors clinical documentation for compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Addresses and oversees the clinical aspect of the Joint Commission (JCAHO) and VA State Licensing requirements.
  • Provides clinical services (groups, family and individual), as needed. Takes on Clinical Director's duties, when s/he is not available.
  • Responds to crisis situations and manages resident behaviors in accordance with the Behavioral Management Program.
  • Provides critical information to the team using efficient and consistent communication processes. Provides help with scheduling needs, plan for events in advance and communicates to the team.
  • Attends, and frequently conducts, staff meetings, clinical staff meetings, rounds and trainings. Ensures that the meetings' deliverables are met.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly supervises employees within the department(s).
  • Indirectly supervises employees within the department(s).
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree (MA) in Counseling, Psychology, Family Therapy or Social Work.
  • Five or more years of experience in direct care with children and adolescents in a residential or acute setting.
  • Certificates, licenses and registrations required: CPR and Handle with Care.
  • Certificates, licenses and registrations preferred: LPC, LCSW, LP, or LMFT.
  • Computer skills required: Microsoft Office, e-Charts.
