JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a Client Service Engineer who will be responsible for providing engineering support to entities of the power utility industry that subscribe a Doble Service Agreement.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS



  • Responsible for assisting technical staff within the power utility industry to advise them in the areas of apparatus condition assessment and diagnostic testing. This interaction typically takes place with companies that subscribe to a Doble Service Agreement which includes engineering consultation.
  • Provide technical and application support for Doble test instruments, analysis of various types of test results, training (on-site and/or webinar-based) and consultation on power apparatus issues.
  • Support R&D related to application and product development, as well as to provide assistance to the field service and test departments.
  • Encouraged to publish technical papers and articles in the area of apparatus diagnostics as well as relevant utility industry topics of interest.
  • Participate in various technical conferences sponsored by Doble Engineering as well as other industry organizations (i.e. IEEE, IEC, Cigre, etc).



QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline (preferably electrical engineering). This requirement can be waived for individuals with alternative technical training, 5 or more years of utility experience specifically focused on power apparatus and familiarity on the use and application of Doble test instruments.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:



  • At least 2 years of testing and/or maintenance experience on electrical power apparatus
  • Previous experience in the power utility industry and familiarity with electrical apparatus in substations and/or power plants.
  • Understanding of diagnostic test techniques for high-voltage power apparatus.



PREFERRED EXPERIENCE (Not Required):



  • Fluency in a language other than English is a plus.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:



  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal. The candidate must be able to clearly and concisely express their views and opinions.
  • Requires a solid command of the English language.
  • The willingness and ability to teach technical concepts to audiences of various skill levels.
  • Ability to learn and work independently with minimal direction.
  • Must be able to organize one's own work-related activities and accommodate changes, priorities are frequently altered to meet the clients' needs.
  • Must be very comfortable with public speaking and have excellent presentation skills. The candidate will be required to conduct technical training sessions as well as provide presentations at various forums.
  • A solid commitment to provide high level support to clients is a must.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% to both domestic and international locations.
  • Must have strong computer skills including ability to understand and implement software installation.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office applications (i.e. PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • Accommodating and patience demeanor required for the frequent client interactions which are of the utmost importance.
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors in energized substations or power plant locations and be willing to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while working in these environments. This PPE may include hardhats, safety glasses, fire retardant (FR) clothing, safety shoes, etc.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers, and customers. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of this job. Must be capable of lifting 30 pounds. Must use assistance when lifting 50 or more pounds.

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job related skills, as well as relevant education or training experience.
