Job Title: Welder/Fitter
Location: Convent, LA

American Commercial Barge Line (ACBL) is seeking a skilled Welder/Fitter to join our team in Convent, Louisiana. In this role, you will use your welding and fitting expertise to repair barges and vessels, ensuring the reliability and safety of our fleet. Responsibilities include performing above and below-water repairs, welding patches on floating equipment.

What you will be doing... Your IMPACT:



  • Perform welding and fitting repairs on barges and floating equipment, including fiberglass repairs.
  • Clean and prepare workspaces, materials, and equipment for repair tasks.
  • Mentor and assist in training new team members to ensure their development.


What We're Looking For:



  • Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience: 3+ years of welding experience in a shipyard or industrial environment preferred.
  • Certifications & Skills:

    • Ability to acquire a valid Driver's License.
    • Ability to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
    • Proficiency in stick welding (required).
    • Ability to read repair orders and prioritize repairs (desired).
    • Ability to pass the ACBL Physical Demands Test.
