SPECIAL NOTICE REGARDING THE WORK LOCATION OF THIS POSITION-Although WestEd provides the option of working at one of its facilities for employees, many roles allow employees to choose to work remotely for their own convenience. The decision to allow remote work at the employee's convenience is based on the requirements of the position or project in question. The Opportunity As a Part-Time Temporary Child Assessor, you will conduct one-on-one math assessments with kindergarteners on-site in elementary schools the greater Sacramento, CA. This is considered a hybrid position as it is not affiliated with a WestEd office, but all work will be conducted from an elementary school and home office. This position is part of a larger research project, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, designed to evaluate the effects of a digital supplementary math program on overall mathematical knowledge. Serving as a member of the research team, the Child Assessor will be responsible for administering assessments with kindergarteners three to five days a week in public elementary schools. Upon hire, assessors will participate in trainings to learn to administer the assessments in Spring 2025. We anticipate that training will take place in February 2025, and assessments will begin in March and end in April/May, depending on school schedules. Successful applicants will be paid for all training activities, as well as for time conducting assessments and associated research activities. Travel mileage will also be paid. This is a part-time temporary position that may include additional assessment opportunities in Spring 2026. Culture of the Content Area Team We are a group of 10 people who are committed to improving education. We believe in the importance of being nimble in order to provide the highest quality insights for clients and stakeholders. In fact, our project teams are often dynamic, which means that we can be working on a number of different project teams at any given time. Core Focus Areas This is a part-time (approximately 20-30 hours per week), temporary position. Roughly 75% of the position responsibilities will be devoted to conducting and reviewing assessments, and the remaining 25% will be devoted to record-keeping and communication.
