We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Project Accountant to join our team in Nicholasville, Kentucky. The Project Accountant will play a critical role in managing financial aspects of projects, ensuring accurate reporting, budgeting, and compliance with company policies.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Project Accountant is responsible for overseeing the financial management of projects, ensuring accurate accounting, and facilitating effective communication between project managers and the finance department. This position plays a key role in supporting the company's financial goals and performance. This position involves administering the end-to-end project accounting process, ensuring up to date and accurate project accounting, and collaborating with Project Managers and other accounting staff. This role requires a proactive approach to financial management, strong attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders to ensure project financial success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Setup and Financial Management



  • Set up new projects in the company accounting system according to contractual obligations and client specifications.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to establish, plan, and monitor project budgets and financial performance.
  • Meet regularly with Project Managers to discuss financial status, updates, and potential issues.
  • Ensure project close out in accordance with company policies and procedures.



Billing and Revenue Management



  • Manage the project billing process, including generating invoices and ensuring timely submission to clients.
  • Review revenue generation for accuracy and consistency with project contracts.
  • Follow up on outstanding account receivables to ensure timely payments by clients



Financial Oversight



  • Conduct regular reviews of project data using accounting software dashboards and meet with Project Managers to take action.
  • Monitor and verify that project accounting is being applied correctly.
  • Manage subcontractor accruals, invoices, and obligations to ensure accurate accounting.
  • Approve subcontractor invoices and other project-related expenses.



Compliance and Risk Management



  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, contract terms, and company policies.
  • Identify and report potential financial risks or discrepancies in project accounting.

YOU WILL NEED

  • Strong understanding of project accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in the English language.

  • High level of organization, attention to detail, and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Excel in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to adapt swiftly to changing priorities and demands.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency in accounting software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Deltek Vision or Vantagepoint experience or certification
  • Relevant experience in accounting or financial management
  • Relevant experience in the fields of architecture, engineering, or construction (AEC)

COMPENSATION

The annual salary range for positions in Kentuckyis $50,000 to $62,000, based on education and relevant experience.
