Operations Business Manager | Construction Services

Purpose
The Operations Business Manager will maintain relationships and be a leader on advising and servicing various entities of the Teichert Family of Companies, as requested by the leadership and management of those business units. The purpose of this role is to provide analysis, support, and advisory to ensure that resources are employed efficiently throughout the Teichert Family of Companies' Construction Services business units and there is an effective flow of accurate and timely information. Specifically, the Operations Business Manager's responsibilities include the following, upon request from business unit leadership, to support the various Teichert Family of Companies business units:
Company/Entity
  1. Become a strategic thought partner with Senior Leadership
  2. Prepare timely financial reports
  3. Provide analytical support to division management and leadership teams
  4. Optimize and align the use of Vista (and other key software systems) with the business goals set forth by leadership
  5. Coordinate efforts between operations and corporate support departments
  6. Develop and implement processes that facilitate operational efficiency
Focus & Scope
Essential duties and responsibilities, i.e. those which are basic, necessary, and an integral part of the job, are indicated below.
Company / Entity
  1. Meets with business units to understand their goals.
  2. Act in a "Fiduciary Advisory Role" for the division and as a liaison with corporate functions on financial and compliance matters.
  3. Provides financial oversight and support to division Presidents to include consolidation of financial reports, financial analysis and other related financial reporting requirements. Coordinate division's activities related to actual reporting and financial forecasting with corporate functions.
  4. Acts as a financial steward through partnering with division Presidents.
  5. Provides analysis to division leadership, understanding the financial drivers and how the financials are calculated by division and by individual job.
  6. Advises and guides the leadership teams to allow the strategic development and implementation of process improvement initiatives for various divisions in alignment with the company's objectives. Provides support to ensure consistent and best business practices and standards are employed across the various divisions and advises to ensure they are aligned with the company's initiatives.
  7. Internal control compliance. Review and monitor processes/controls and advise on strengthening/modifying procedures where appropriate.
  8. Facilitate the strategic planning process with the division management team and monitor the progress of the tactical plans to ensure they are in alignment with company strategic goals and objectives.
  9. Advises and supports job set up and understands the hierarchy of the financial set up.
  10. Provides interpretation of budget analysis, job financial health, and financial drivers to division leadership.
  11. Coordinates with project management teams, field leaders, and estimators to understand and support specific project/job financial aspects throughout the project life from set up to close.
  12. Partners with division leadership to provide guidance and support as the business evolves and new other various changes occur.
  13. Coordination of annual budget development and quarterly forecasts to ensure division's business needs and growth expectations are analyzed and communicated. Coordinate and compile area quarterly forecasts to ensure timely and accurate forecasts.
  14. Assist division President with forecast analysis and review.
  15. Assist division President with capex and M&A activity to include pro forma analysis, due diligence and transition management of new businesses.
  16. With the support of the internal financial team (FAST team), provide oversight of deployed corporate services, and coordinate related process improvement initiatives with the FAST team to ensure efficient business processes with Construction Services.
  17. Attends FAST department meetings to ensure communication between Construction Services Leadership and the internal FAST Team. Acts as a liaison between Construction Services and the FAST team.
  18. Promotes efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives; challenges the effectiveness of established processes
  19. Models innovative/effective management practices.
  20. Establishes, promotes and protects Teichert's values including diversity, teamwork, fair work environment, and respect of others; maintains a "team" spirit.
  21. Cooperates across company lines and maintains continuity between corporate, division, and local work teams.
  22. Contributes to our safety culture.
Technical / Specialty Area
  1. Ensures administrative functions are effective and efficient.
  2. Assists in establishing standards, policies, procedures, and monitoring systems for compliance.
  3. Ensures financial and administrative reporting is accurate and timely.
  4. Supports the business unit teams by providing strategic advice, explanation, and interpretation of reports and data for the management teams.
  5. Develops positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
  6. Facilitates communication of company, project, and reporting policies.
  7. Supports safety programs and actively participates in safety meetings and training sessions.
  8. Manages administrative documentation including files, records, reports, budgets, P/L reporting, safety, training, accidents/incidents, state and federal regulations, aging statements, cost analysis, billings, rental equipment, etc.
  9. Ensures that administrative guidelines, manuals, and/or policies and procedures are clear and documented.
