The Manager is responsible to support multiple sub-categories within Corporate Categories (indirect and commercial). The Manager will act as a business partner and work with business stakeholders to define business needs, assess and analyze spend, establish sourcing strategy, conduct the RFx process, make vendor selections, conduct contract negotiations, optimize vendor cost/performance, and manage vendor relationships.

Deliver targeted procurement strategies and policies in support of the Company's strategic objectives, including developing, deploying and continually improving the Company wide purchasing strategy, and further procurement procedures, building and maintaining strong working relationships to gain buy- in and engagement with the key stakeholders, challenge, enhance and standardize existing procurement practices across all business units to ensure conformity of approach, generate economies of scale and deliver better value for money, utilizing the following principles:

  • Focus on Total Value delivered: maximize value across the supply chain, not just incremental savings

  • Sustainability of Benefits: Overriding focus on continuous improvements via identifying, capturing, delivering, and sustaining benefits

  • Collaboration and Relationship Led: Proactively build and manage relationships, internally and externally, to realize the most value

  • Genuine functional insight: as experienced practitioners provide the Business with industry knowledge and insights to tackle complex challenges

  • Keep things Simple: Improve efficiency and effectiveness of Procurement without unnecessary complexity

  • Get the Balance Right: Make sure a balance is struck between Procurement Operations and Category Management to ensure customer focus across the Procurement value chain

Essential Functions:

This role will serve as a key enabler of the overall commercialization effort for Jazz's existing and new commercial products, providing guidance and support to leaders across the US Affiliate and G&A functions. The role will work closely with cross-functional teams across the Company delivering value and cost-optimization opportunities, capturing cost-savings/reductions, and improving financial and operational performance.

Indirect requirements for G&A Functions including but not limited to:

  • Professional Services

  • Information Services

  • Financial Services

  • Other categories supporting G&A Functions as required.

The following responsibilities will be in-scope:

Category Management:

As the Category lead, accountable for developing, executing, and improving strategies to deliver sustainable results across certain categories and subcategories

  • Ability to consolidate market, vendor and internal Business data and information to develop and implement a cohesive, business-aligned long-term category strategy at both the category and sub-category level

  • Subject matter expert (knowledge of industry, major players, threats, opportunities, terms etc.)

  • Manage the end-to-end competitive sourcing process (i.e. specifications, statements of work, performance terms, and/or acceptance criteria); Manage an efficient Vendor selection process driving the team towards a timely decision with all risks identified.

  • Negotiate master agreements as well as other associated contracts (SOWs, Change Orders, etc.) and detailed budgets and payment schedules.

Vendor Management:

  • Partner with the Business to develop a robust performance and relationship management program by facilitating Vendor segmentation, setting value creation target with the key Vendors, and developing a category-wide set of key performance indicators.

  • Active management of a Preferred Vendor Program within specified Categories

  • Rationalize vendor pools to minimize risk and maximize value.

  • Participate in the development and management of a Vendor Risk Program, including Vendor Qualification

Business Partnering:

  • Establish effective relationships, partnerships, strategies with stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional teams

  • Work with Functions (Commercial, Quality, Legal, Finance and others) to ensure synergies are delivered and roadblocks mitigated

  • Appropriately challenging the status-quo for process, systems, and people with the goal of streamlining and simplifying

Reporting/Forecasting/Budgeting/Savings:

  • Partner with the Business and Finance to produce an annual Budget and regular re-forecasts justifying differences based on commodity moves, exchange rates, negotiated contracts and future projects

  • Collaborate with Finance to input financial information required for projects, project proposals, make versus processes and other strategic scenarios developed by the Business requiring external cost input

  • Actively track and report on savings as a result of Procurement's engagement

Procurement Policy, Procedures and Processes:

  • Assist in deploying and maintaining the Company wide Procurement Policy, Procedures and Processes within stakeholder groups for assigned categories; Conducting and/or overseeing re-training as needed

  • Assist in the development and implementation of Procurement (tools, templates, systems, etc.) to raise team capabilities to deliver best-in-class support to stakeholders

  • Support the Source to Pay system implementation to ensure full adoption

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Extensive Procurement experience with progressive responsibility, substantial experience in assigned categories

  • Excellent computer literacy coupled with proficiency in Microsoft Office and business analytics tools needed to create persuasive presentation materials

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and skills including the ability to effectively tailor communication to varying levels within the organization

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, as required, in a fast-paced, matrixed, team environment consisting of internal and external team members

  • Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines

  • Excellent planning, organization and time management skills including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects

  • Ability to influence without direct authority

  • Commercially astute

  • Proven track record of driving change

  • Proven track record of significant cost reduction

Required/Preferred Education and Licenses

  • Bachelor's degree in business, science, or a related field

  • Certified Professional in Supply Management, Certified Purchasing Manager, or Certified Professional Purchasing Manager preferred

  • Experience in biotech/pharmaceutical industry preferred

  • Experience with Coupa's Business Spend Management Platform (all Source to Pay modules) preferred

Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices and we strive to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. For this role, the full and complete base pay range is: $115,200.00 - $172,800.00

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, and other pertinent factors. The goal is to ensure fair and competitive compensation aligned with the candidate's expertise and contributions, within the established pay framework and our Total Compensation philosophy. Internal equity considerations will also influence individual base pay decisions. This range will be reviewed on a regular basis.

At Jazz, your base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate may also be eligible for a discretionary annual cash bonus or incentive compensation (depending on the role), in accordance with the terms of the Company's Global Cash Bonus Plan or Incentive Compensation Plan, as well as discretionary equity grants in accordance with Jazz's Long Term Equity Incentive Plan.
