Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Manager, Corrosion Control to support Buckeye's facility and tank integrity management programs

Role Summary:

The Manager, Corrosion Control role is responsible for managing the overall strategic development, implementation and maintenance of the Company corrosion control programs and to support Engineering staff and Operations personnel by providing technical guidance regarding the execution of the program.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions include:



  • Regulatory Compliance. Ensuring corrosion control compliance with Company policy and governmental regulations, developing Company policy and procedures for corrosion control, and representing Company on regulatory audits.
  • Data Maintenance. Managing and maintaining Buckeye's corrosion control record keeping systems.
  • Data Integration. Reviewing corrosion control data and integrating with other Pipeline, Facility, and Tank Integrity Programs.
  • Asset Maintenance. Developing and directing the long-term, asset maintenance work plan for corrosion control, including the development and deployment of advanced analytics and predictive maintenance approaches.
  • Budget Management. Developing budgets for Company-wide corrosion control programs.
  • Personnel Management. Leading and managing Corrosion Engineers and Specialists.
  • Personnel Training. Providing training/development/evaluation for Corrosion Engineers, Corrosion Specialists, and Asset Team corrosion control personnel.
  • System Design. Designing corrosion control systems for facility expansions, rehabilitations and for new facilities (pipelines, stations, and terminals).


  • Acquisition and Divestitures. Representing the Corrosion Control Program interests during acquisitions and divestitures.
  • Industry Work Group Representation. Acts as Company's representative on industry association corrosion focused committees.


  • And other duties as assigned.



Position Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical/Electrical/Metallurgical Engineering or related field required.


  • 7+ years' experience in engineering related disciplines; In-depth knowledge/experience with Corrosion Control Programs required.
  • Prior managerial experience required.
  • Special skills: Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Special skills: Competency with SQL, FME (or other ETL tool), Python or other programming languages is helpful. Experience with Microsoft PowerBI is a plus.
  • Up to 30% travel



Certificates & Licenses:



  • AMPP Cathodic Protection Specialist (CP-3 or 4) certification preferred.
  • AMPP Corrosion Specialist certification helpful.
  • PE/EIT registration desirable.



Other Skills, Attributes and Abilities:



  • In order to be successful in this position, one must have excellent analytical skills to resolve business and operations problems and have good communication skills to consult with users to provide technical assistance. The individual must be a well organized, with the ability to monitor and direct the work of employees and contractors and evaluate their performance.


  • Must be readily available to provide technical assistance during responses to pipeline releases or other emergencies.



Essential Functions:



  • This position requires the ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or/quantitative productivity standards.
  • This role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • This position requires compliance with all personnel policies.



Physical & Safety Requirements:



  • Must be able to occasionally climb tank stairways, enter tanks through manways, walk pipeline right-of-way in all terrain and withstand extreme weather conditions in both summer and winter.
  • Normal office environment when not working in the field.
