9 am - 5 pm Monday - Friday, occasional evenings and weekends

Minimum Experience/Education
The Postdoctoral appointee must have recently (within the last three years) been awarded a Ph.D.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:

  • A Ph.D. in Geology, Geochemistry, Geoscience, or Earth Sciences
  • Training and research experience in one or more of the following areas: stable (clumped) isotope geochemistry, low-temperature thermochronology, sedimentology and structural geology, geodynamics
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills


Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will primarily work on projects related to the topographic growth of the Tibetan Plateau. Key responsibilities may include one or more of the following:

  1. Utilizing stable and clumped isotope geochemistry to reconstruct carbonate diagenesis, paleoclimate and paleoelevation evolution.
  2. Applying geochronology and low-temperature thermochronology to constrain depositional ages, provenance, and regional exhumation history.
  3. Conducting fieldwork in sedimentology, stratigraphy, and structural geology to clarify the sedimentary and tectonic evolution of targeted basins.


In addition to these core responsibilities, the postdoctoral associate will be encouraged to pursue independent research topics of their own interest and will receive strong support for professional development.
