Job Summary:

UW-Madison's Digital Publishing and Printing Services (DPPS) is seeking an experienced Printing Customer Service Manager to lead the work in our customer service team in our digital print facility. In this role, you will apply your years of commercial print estimating experience, broad understanding of printing processes, and your expertise managing a customer service team to help our group serve the UW campus and beyond!

DPPS is one of the largest in-house print production centers within the State of Wisconsin government. Our new state-of-the-art facility is located on Madison's east side (off campus) on Stoughton Road and offers free, on-site parking.

Responsibilities:
Manages unit operations, develops policies and procedures, provides subject matter expertise to customers, and/or supervises staff to ensure timely and high quality reproduction and printing services for customers.

  • 25% Develops and schedules operational work plans for reproduction and printing services
  • 10% May implement the unit personnel resource allocation plan including hiring, training, supervision, and performance feedback
  • 25% Services as a second point of contact for customers and leadership providing complex organizational information about reproduction and printing services
  • 15% Serves as the subject matter expert to unit leadership regarding reproduction and printing services
  • 5% Develops and implements new and revised operational policies and procedures as needed
  • 5% Facilitates regular production schedule meetings with staff
  • 5% Provides leadership, training and outreach to external customers as needed to assist with logistics of larger projects
  • 5% Coordinates with external vendors to coordinate logistics of procured print projects
  • 5% Performs quality inspections and approves final work of staff

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

- Previous work experience in customer service management role within commercial print industry
- Previous work experience in commercial print estimating
- Broad understanding of digital prepress, graphic design, digital print, offset print and print bindery functions
- Proven ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and prioritize work under tight deadlines

In addition to required qualifications, the most qualified candidates may also have the following preferred qualification:

-Experience negotiating with commercial print vendors
-Experience training customer service staff in commercial print environment
-Experience using commercial print management software and/or fulfillment software

This position requires work be performed in-person, onsite at 2109 S. Stoughton Road.

Salary:

Minimum $70,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The full-time salary is anticipated to be between $70,000 - $80,000 annually and is negotiable based on experience. Individuals paid above the minimum rate are expected to demonstrate the experience and required knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position in a similar environment.
