How Is This Role Important to Our Work?

Innovative, collaborative, strategic actuarial leader needed for Medicare Supplement and Medicare Cost product lines. Leader will be supported by dedicated associate and responsible for pricing, forecasting, product development, product implementation, and rate filing for segment products. Develop relationships and partner with actuarial leaders and other departments including product, legal, finance, regulatory affairs, and compliance to optimally manage products within the broader Medicare portfolio. Responsible for guiding and motivating the supporting actuarial associate in business segment initiatives and professional development.

A Day in the Life:

  • Manage the pricing, forecasting, product development, product implementation, and rate filing of the Medicare Cost and Medicare Supplement products.
  • Lead associate handling products' initiatives, with key focus on associate's professional development
  • Research, analyze and interpret Medicare actuarial and statistical data and provide technical assistance to other departments estimating the impact and owning the resolution.
  • Design mathematical models in connection with other departments (e.g. Product, Compliance) to predict impact of proposed changes.
  • Make suggestions to amend or develop products and processes to maintain product viability and financial soundness as a result of analyzing claims, revenue and/or other relevant data.
  • Independently manage, which includes directing supporting staff, in the retrieval and analysis of data on multiple tasks or projects with little or no management involvement. This may include filling in for management when needed.
  • Responsible for regulatory review of new legislation and compliance with existing legislation related to segment
  • Other specific accountabilities as assigned by management.

Nice to Have:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Medicare Cost and/or Medicare Supplement product experience
  • Experience building and manipulating pricing and forecasting models

Required Skills and Experiences:

  • 6+ years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.
  • 3 years of experience in Medicare pricing.
  • ASA or above.
  • Strong collaboration, project & time management, and delegation skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills.
  • Knowledge of data retrieval languages, preferably SQL and SAS.

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay Range: $115,000.00 - $155,300.00 - $195,600.00 Annual

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
