As a Summer Day Camp Counselor, you'll create fun and memorable experiences for children aged 5-12! Assist Lead Counselors facilitating exciting activities like arts and crafts, sports, and educational games while ensuring a safe and positive environment for your group. You'll be responsible for the well-being and safety of the kids, helping them stay engaged and follow behavioral expectations. Entry level counselors pay rate is $15.50 per hour with additional hourly pay for 2+year Kroc Counselors.

Lead Counselor opportunities are also available!

Lead Counselors play a key role in planning and delivering a fun and organized camp experience for children aged 5-12! Leads prepare and lead exciting activities like arts, sports, and educational games while ensuring a safe environment. They also help with communication to parents as needed, manage daily rosters, and take on leadership responsibilities. From coordinating activities to maintaining the camp's appearance, Camp Leads are integral in making the camp run smoothly.

The hourly wage for Lead Counselors is $16.53 for a 1st year lead with additional pay for 2+ year Lead Counselors.

Kroc Summer Camp is an entirely outdoor camp experience. Camp runs June 9 - August 15. Get ready to make a positive impact and create lasting memories for kids this summer!

JOB OBJECTIVE

The Summer Day Camp Counselor works directly with children and organizes, prepares, and leads general activities such as arts and crafts, sports, educational, and other age-appropriate activities. They are directly responsible for the safety and well-being of a small group of children aged 5 - 12 by ensuring appropriate behavior and that the group is in the proper location at all times.

  1. Organize, prepare, and execute age-appropriate activities for children ages 5 - 12 such as arts and crafts, sports, educational activities, and games.
  2. Ensure campers meet behavioral expectations and positively intervene when necessary.
  3. Submit material and equipment requirements to the Youth Development Supervisor / Summer Camp Lead Counselor as necessary.
  4. Attend weekly staff meetings as required.



OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Attend trainings as required by supervisor.

Other duties as assigned and appropriate for this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent is desired. General knowledge of games and activities appropriate to the 5 - 12 year old age group.

Certifications: American Red Cross or equivalent 1st Aid / CPR / AED certifications are highly desired.

Experience: Previous work experience working with children in a day camp setting is preferred.

Skills: Conversational knowledge of Spanish is highly desired.

Ability to communicate / work with a diverse population.

Ability to build positive relationships with children and parents / guardians.

Ability to use sound judgment in challenging situations.

Willingness to accept responsibility for a small group of 5 - 12 year old children.

Ability to accept feedback and guidance in the performance of duties.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions will vary based on the activity being conducted. Summer Camp at the Kroc is an entirely outdoor experience. Some activities will take place indoors in a climate-controlled area while most will take place outdoors with varying temperature and humidity levels.
