POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

We are seeking a skilled Systems Engineer with expertise in Windows and Linux system administration, network security, infrastructure maintenance and long term system design and upgrades. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing our IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and reliability across all systems. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic IT team.

The Systems Engineer will:




  1. Windows System Administration and Design:

    • Manage and maintain Windows servers, Active Directory, Group Policies, and associated services.
    • Perform regular system updates, patches, and backups to ensure system integrity and compliance.
    • Monitor and troubleshoot system performance issues to minimize downtime.


  2. Linux Administration, Maintenance, and Design:

    • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and associated applications.
    • Perform system upgrades, security patches, and performance tuning on Linux systems.
    • Monitor system logs and proactively address potential issues.
    • Design, plan and implement system upgrades for future and long term success and compliance


  3. Network Security:

    • Implement and maintain robust security policies to protect the organization's IT infrastructure.
    • Monitor and mitigate security risks, including unauthorized access and cyber threats.
    • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.


  4. Network Infrastructure Management:

    • Configure and maintain network switches, routers, and firewalls.
    • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and optimize network performance.
    • Collaborate with the IT team to design and implement network improvements.


  5. Documentation and Collaboration:

    • Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
    • Provide technical support and training to end-users as needed.
    • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to meet organizational IT goals.



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Requirements:




  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven experience as a Systems Administrator with expertise in both Windows and Linux environments.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with configuring and managing switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSE, RHCSA, CCNA, or similar) are a plus.
